An Afghan wool runner organized in five columns of repeating octagonal guls, each octagon enclosing stepped, geometric forms. The restrained palette of brown, cream and white has softened with age into a quiet, tactile restraint; abrash and medium wear reveal layers of use across the field and borders. The motifs read as disciplined and vernacular, their crisp geometry mellowed by a warm patina. Circa 1895 - 1915. This antique rug measures 10' 7" x 20' 8" and carries a lived, heritage presence that emphasizes material and making. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
