An Agra woven in wool with an expansive, quietly patterned field. This antique rug reads in ivory and cream, the surface punctuated by closely spaced boteh motifs set in a disciplined grid and held by a series of narrow guards and a floral outer border. Medium distress has softened the pile and introduced delicate abrash, producing a linen-like hand and layered patina. The scale is generous at 11' 10" x 16' 0" and the restrained palette feels both luminous and restrained. Circa 1915 - 1930. The result is an elegantly aged specimen of Agra craft, tactile and quietly composed.
