A large Mahal woven in wool and softened by time, this antique rug reads as a painterly study in cream and brown. The allover floral vine composition is gently faded, its palmettes and arabesques resolved into a quiet, layered field beneath a darker guard border. Surface abrasion and subtle abrash give the piece a patina of use while the pattern remains legible across its breadth. Circa 1885 - 1900. 13' 1" x 19' 9" The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time. Subtle tonal variation keeps the drawing legible and grounded.
