A broad, quietly worn Mahal in soft red ground, woven in wool with a generous all-over floral field that reads like a faded garden. Delicate palmettes and leafy sprays float across a gently abrased surface, balanced by a narrow multi-guard border enlivened with repeating rosette motifs. The palette of red, cream, pink and white has mellowed to a warm, tactile patina that highlights the rug's hand and age. This antique rug measures 8' 10" x 10' 10" and shows low distress with even wear across the field. Circa 1900 - 1915.
