This Mahal runner, in wool, reads as a worn heirloom: a red ground threaded with cream and white motifs set within a cool, muted teal guard border. The repeating lozenge chain and stylised palmettes have softened with time, the pattern articulated now by subtle abrash and even fading. The long proportions (3' 2" x 9' 3") and medium distress give the piece a tactile, lived-in surface that speaks to long use and careful repair. Circa 1900 - 1920. An antique rug with a poised, quietly layered palette and a linen-soft patina that favours considered interiors.
