Soft, time-worn and quietly formal, this Agra reads as a study in restraint. Woven in wool and measuring 9' 8" x 18' 0", the broad muted field is surrounded by a generous boteh border and narrow guard bands. Pale creams and warm browns settle into gentle abrash; delicate floral corner spandrels punctuate an otherwise serene composition. The surface shows even, medium distress that produces a tactile, worn patina. As an antique rug it conveys the calm geometry of refined dyeing and long use. Circa 1880 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
