An 8' 0" x 12' 2" Mahal in wool, the all-over floral lattice has softened into a quiet neutral field of cream and brown. Repeating rosettes and small palmettes read through a broad, faded border; the surface shows medium distress and even abrash that lend a soft patina to the weave. Texture is low and tactile, edges are softened but stable, and the motifs retain a disciplined, measured geometry. It retains subtle color depth and a contemplative presence. This antique rug is both lived-in and composed. Circa 1875 - 1890
