This Mahal is an antique rug measuring 10' 2" x 16' 6", a large wool field quietly softened by time. An allover floral arabesque unfolds across a muted cream and beige ground, the design articulated by narrow floral borders and repeating palmettes. Medium distress and soft abrash create layered colour shifts and a patinated surface that reads like woven memory; a few worn patches and thin areas reveal the rug’s age while preserving its formal balance. The edges show gentle fraying and original character. Circa 1900 - 1930. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
