A saturated Agra field rendered in wool, this antique rug reads as dense and tactile, the familiar palmette-and-vine vocabulary woven with a restrained blue, green and neutral palette. The composition pairs a close, all-over floral lattice with a broad foliate outer border and geometric guard bands, the pattern retaining crispness despite visible softening to high points. Low distress preserves the rug’s surface and colour transitions, while areas of subtle abrash and selective surface loss add patina and depth. Circa 1900 - 1915, this Agra is a study in scaled motifs, considered proportion and long-wearing wool craft. 12' 4" x 13' 10".
