This Mahal antique rug measures 7' 0" x 9' 9" and presents a deeply weathered field of softened medallion and border ornament. Woven in wool, it carries a muted palette of warm taupe, brown, olive, rust, and ivory, with the design now partially dissolved into a layered, atmospheric surface. Floral borders remain readable at the edges, while the centre shows pronounced fading and abrasion that lend the piece its character. Circa 1875 - 1890, it reflects the elegant restraint and lived-in texture often associated with a well-aged Mahal. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
