This overdyed vintage rug measures 4' 0" x 7' 7" and reads as a saturated field of red softened by worn rose and grounded brown traces. Circa 1925 - 1935, its surface has been transformed into a painterly, low-contrast composition where the original pattern lingers beneath the dye. A restrained border, faint central ornament, and a small stitched repair add character without interrupting the overall calm. The pile shows visible fading and variation across the field, giving it a tactile, lived-in presence that feels bold yet settled. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
