This Mahal antique rug measures 12' 7" x 19' 2" and carries the relaxed grandeur of a piece long softened by time. Woven in wool, its faded ivory ground is layered with muted rust, washed blue-grey, taupe, and traces of dusty rose, allowing the floral field and border to read almost as a memory. The composition remains legible, though beautifully worn, with abrash and broad areas of distress that flatten the pattern into a quiet, painterly surface. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reflects the atmospheric restraint that defines a well-aged Mahal.
