This Mahal antique rug measures 10' 10" x 13' 4" and presents a timeworn floral composition in warm neutrals, brown, and softened navy. An open field holds scrolling vines, palmettes, and bouquet-like medallions, all framed by a dense floral border that has mellowed with age. The wool surface shows medium distress, with visible fading, gentle abrasions, and a richly worn patina that softens the drawing without losing its rhythm. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the quiet balance and layered character associated with a well-loved Mahal. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
