This Mahal antique rug measures 10' 6" x 17' 1" and shows the relaxed grandeur of a deeply worn, large-scale wool weaving. The field has softened into layers of rust red, ivory, taupe, and grey, with the floral pattern partially dissolved by age and use. A quiet border still frames the composition, lending structure to the faded expanse. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the patina of an antique rug with generous abrasion, muted contrast, and a grounded, weathered presence that feels both restrained and richly textured.
