This Mahal antique rug measures 9' 2" x 12' 2" and carries the softened elegance that comes with age and heavy wear. Its allover floral field is layered with scrolling arabesques, while the border holds the composition with a classic repeat in faded rust and pale blue. The wool surface has a washed, timeworn character, with areas of strong distress that blur the pattern into a quiet, atmospheric whole. Circa 1920 - 1935, it reads as both restrained and richly detailed, with a patina that emphasises depth over contrast. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
