This Agra antique rug, measuring 7' 0" x 9' 9", pairs a luminous ivory ground with a field of small repeating boteh-like motifs in muted burgundy and taupe. A richly drawn border system in rose, maroon, and pale blue surrounds the composition, with animated guard bands that add rhythm and contrast. The wool surface shows soft fading and timeworn wear that flatten the palette in a graceful way. Circa 1915 - 1930, it carries the layered character and restrained formality often associated with antique Agra weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
