This Mallayer antique rug measures 13' 9" x 23' 0" and presents an expansive field of worn floral geometry, its original pattern softened into a layered, atmospheric surface. The palette moves through taupe, brown, muted blue, pale aqua, and ivory, with a border that still reads clearly against the faded centre. Medium wear has created a mellow patina, with abrash and gentle loss of contrast adding depth rather than distraction. Circa 1895 - 1910, it carries the quiet complexity and lived-in character associated with a well-aged wool Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
