This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 3' 5" x 16' 9", presents a long, elegant field organized by a dense geometric medallion framework. Wool in brown, blue, neutral, white, and cream has softened into a layered, timeworn surface, with the centre notably more abraded than the borders. The narrow floral border and tightly worked guards still register clearly, while the overall composition reads with restrained rhythm and depth.
