This Mahal antique rug measures 20' 11" x 23' 2", presenting a grand, layered field of floral repeats, scrolling palmettes, and a finely framed border softened by age. The palette moves through neutral brown, white, and cream, with traces of muted gold and faint rust lending depth beneath the wear. Its high distress creates a lived-in surface, where pattern and ground dissolve into one another with a silvery, timeworn effect. Circa 1920 - 1940, it carries the calm, densely patterned presence associated with Mahal weaving, reinterpreted here in an unusually faded and atmospheric form.
