This Mallayer antique rug measures 6' 8" x 12' 0" and carries the quiet depth of age through its washed palette and heavily worn surface. A softened blue central medallion sits within layered brown and cream borders, while the surrounding field reveals geometric and floral motifs that have mellowed with time. The composition feels restrained yet intricate, with abrash, fading, and abrasion lending a richly lived-in texture. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reflects the balanced ornament and subdued colour that define the Mallayer tradition, now distilled into a composition of taupe, ivory, and weathered blue.
