This Mahal antique rug measures 12' 3" x 13' 4" and carries a layered, softly faded presence shaped by a large octagonal medallion, a smaller central diamond, and a field of dispersed floral and geometric motifs. Brick red, teal, ivory, slate blue, and warm taupe tones sit under a timeworn veil, giving the surface a quiet depth. The border system remains legible but gently worn, with abrasion and fading that soften the drawing without erasing it. Circa 1920 - 1940, it reflects the relaxed elegance associated with Mahal weaving, translated through age and atmosphere.
