This Mahal antique rug, measuring 12' 0" x 15' 5", carries a quietly weathered field of soft blue, cream, and muted rust. Its allover floral composition is softened by age, while the border retains a gentler decorative frame with corner ornament still visible in places. The surface reads with a layered, timeworn calm, allowing the pattern to emerge and recede across the composition. Circa 1925 - 1940, it reflects the graceful understatement for which Mahal rugs are known, with medium distress lending depth, texture, and an easy sense of history.
