This Mahal antique rug measures 10' 3" x 18' 3" and carries the layered character that defines the type, with an allover field of rounded medallions, palmettes, and floral repeats framed by a slender border. The brick red ground has softened into a faded, atmospheric palette of ivory, blue, camel, and grey, with visible wear that lends the surface a calm, timeworn depth. Circa 1915 - 1930, it reads as both decorative and restrained, with pattern passages that remain legible through the abrashed finish and mellow patina. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
