Musilopatan was the site of the first British settlement in India in 1620. Even then the city, though small, was renowned for its textiles. From fine, closely woven, beautifully designed rugs modeled in the style of the Agra rugs. The rug sizes ranged from 4' x 6' up to palace size pieces. These design motifs have been handed down from generation to generation and these famous old patterns are highly reproduced today.
