This Tapestry presents a quiet pastoral tableau in wool, rendered in a restrained neutral, gold, cream and white palette. A framed pictorial field shows a courting couple in the foreground, attendant figures, livestock and woodland beyond, all bordered by a garland motif. Surface condition is clean with low distress, lending a soft, tactile nap and well-preserved pictorial clarity. The hand of an older workshop is visible in the layered tones and subtle abrash that animate the ground. This antique rug measures 8' 3" x 12' 0" and reads as an elegiac, lived object. Circa 1650 - 1770.
