A European wool rug with a restrained, painterly palette of brown, gold and neutral tones. The field is organized around a softened central medallion and mirrored cartouches, layered with scrolling foliage and stylized rosettes. Time has mellowed the surface; abrash and medium wear animate the color and reveal a supple, low pile. The border carries a narrow palmette frieze that frames the composition with antique character. This antique rug, measured 5' 2" x 7' 6", reads as an object of quiet craft and lived texture, its colors refined by age and handling. Circa 1900 - 1915
