This Tapestry is a restrained, tactile study in figuration and floral ornament, rendered in wool with a warm terracotta and neutral palette. The 4' 1" x 4' 3" panel shows a small group of period-dressed figures set against a pastoral ground, held within a narrow inner frame and a flowing floral border. Surface abrash and softened wool lend a muted, painterly quality to the imagery; the borders retain stronger chroma that frames the scene. A considered antique rug with evident handwork in the modelling of faces and drapery, its presence reads as quietly aged and crafted. Circa 1900 - 1915
