A compact Tapestry in wool, rendered with a quiet pastoral tableau and a narrow brown border. The scene reads in layered creams and warm browns, the figure and dogs modelled with painterly shading and fine vegetal motifs that ripple across the field. Low distress preserves a soft, tactile surface and the woven colours retain a mellow, antique character. This antique rug measures 2' 9" x 3' 11" and carries the calm patina of long use while remaining structurally sound. Circa 1850 - 1870, the piece reads as a refined example of decorative tapestry work, subtle and quietly narrative in its composition.
