A restrained Tabriz in a quiet register of neutral, gold and brown, this antique rug reads like a study in patina and proportion. A stepped medallion and softened palmettes anchor the deep, abrased field while the wide ivory-gold border folds in fine floral arabesques and layered guard stripes. The wool pile shows even, medium wear and a gentle abrash that harmonizes the palette into a muted, tactile surface. At 6' 2" x 9' 0", the composition feels deliberate and quietly architectural, a piece whose softened colour and craft reveal a long life. Circa 1905 - 1925
