An elegant Mallayer runner in wool, the piece reads as a studied layering of deep indigo, soft aqua and neutral ivory with warm rust accents. A repeating vertical tree-lattice of stylised palmettes and scrolling leaves travels the length, contained by a narrow floral guard border that offers a lighter counterpoint. Gentle abrash and low overall wear give the pile a tactile, softly faded surface while the pattern maintains a disciplined clarity. This antique rug has the long, narrow presence of a well-kept heirloom, its textured wool surface retaining a quiet momentum across 2' 11" x 16' 6". Circa 1895 - 1915.
