A Tabriz of restrained grandeur in wool, measuring 7' 0" x 10' 5", this antique rug reads as a study in temperate colour and handwork. An allover palmette and floral lattice shifts across a deep brown ground, the red and cream motifs softened by subtle abrash and a faded ivory guard sequence. Low distress preserves a supple pile and lifts the design with gentle contrast; the rose-cream main border frames the field with muted formality. Circa 1900 - 1915. The overall effect is tactile and considered, an object where pattern, age and fibre converge with quiet authority.
