A refined European wool rug rendered in a soft neutral field, this piece reads like a faded tapestry of roses and garlands. A delicate floral bouquet anchors the centre, surrounded by a garland oval tied with ribbon bows and a scrolling floral border. The palette is cream and white warmed by coral-pink blooms, sage leaves and powder blue highlights. Surface wear and a centre fold lend a lived-in softness to the wool pile; abrash and light edge rubbing are evident. This antique rug retains an elegant, tactile presence and quiet colouration.
