A Tabriz defined by restrained colour and refined drawing, this antique rug presents a large floral medallion set within a scalloped cartouche. The coral-red field has mellowed to warm terracotta, allowing navy and cream floral arabesques to read like ink on paper. Multiple narrow guard borders frame a generous field of scrolling vines and palmettes; pile shows low, even wear with a soft, museum-like patina. Circa 1880 - 1900. Woven in durable wool, the piece measures 9' 3" x 12' 6", its tactile surface and delicate abrash lending a collected, heirloom presence.
