A Yazd in wool, this antique rug offers a quietly sophisticated expression of age and pattern. The sun-warmed neutral field is populated by brown and cream palmettes and a network of scrolling arabesques, held within layered guard borders. The expansive 12' 0" x 22' 4" proportion reads architectural yet soft; surface wear and medium distress have produced a satin patina and subtle abrash that reveal layered colour and texture. Gentle margin wear balances preservation of the motif, allowing the design’s rhythm to remain legible and tactile. Circa 1905 - 1925.
