A restrained Tabriz in a deep navy field layered with cream and ivory palmettes, this wool antique rug reads as quietly architectural. The all-over vine and medallion lattice is rendered with delicate floral fills and pale blue accents that have softened with time. Surface wear and even abrash give the piece a matte, tactile quality, while the ornate neutral border retains detailed motifs against a softened ground. Circa 1900 - 1915. At 11' 0" x 18' 0", the rug balances scale and intricacy, its aged character speaking to long-lived use and careful making.
