This Tabriz presents an expansive, finely drawn allover of palmettes and scrolling vines rendered in a muted, neutral field. The surface shows high distress, with broad areas of faded pile and soft abrash that reveal an underlying, nuanced palette of beige, soft blue, sage and muted rust. The layered wear gives a tactile, silvery patina and a sense of history across its scale. Measures 10' 8" x 16' 5". Circa 1895 - 1915. As an antique rug the piece reads like a pale textile fresco, its borders and minute motifs still visible beneath the softened surface.
