This Kashan is an elegant, quietly worn antique rug in soft creams and faded coral, its allover palmette and arabesque lattice rendered with a restrained hand. The 8' 8" x 12' 6" scale allows the repeating floral medallions to breathe against a pale aqua ground that reads almost neutral with age. Borders remain legible though softened by medium distress; abrash and gentle surface wear lend a tactile patina. Wool pile has developed a mellow sheen and a layered depth of colour that rewards close inspection. Circa 1900 - 1915 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
