This Sarab is an antique rug woven in wool, notable for its stepped mihrab and an elongated medallion that anchors a tightly repeated boteh field. A series of ivory floral guard borders frame the composition, their fine motifs offset by a green, neutral and brown ground that has softened with age. Surface abrasions are minimal and the pile remains even, lending a tactile, lived-in presence to the piece. Circa 1890 - 1910. Exact size: 8' 7" x 13' 5". The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
