This Tabriz is a quietly refined wool rug, 9' 0" x 12' 8", defined by an all-over lattice of stylised palmettes and small rosettes framed by a scrolling vine border. The neutral color range, ivory, beige and warm tan, has softened into a sun-washed patina; medium distress and subtle abrash register as tactile history across the surface. Despite softened edges the patterning remains articulate, revealing layered texture and restrained ornament. Circa 1910 - 1925. This antique rug reads as a study in muted detail and lived-in materiality, quietly present yet rich in hand and surface.
