An elegant Mallayer runner woven in wool, this antique rug measures 2' 3" x 17' 0". A restrained palette of deep brown ground and cream floral palmettes creates a rhythmic medallion-repeat along its length. The pile shows medium, even wear and soft abrash that underscores age and use; narrow guard borders articulate the composition in lighter tones. The texture reads tactile and settled, a heritage vocabulary rendered in wool. Circa 1880 - 1895. Its long, measured proportions and timeworn surface present a quiet, design-literate presence.
