A Chinese wool landscape rug with a restrained pictorial composition in warm browns, cream and deep blue. Layered terraces and a winding river populate the field, punctuated by small boats, a bridged crossing and a modest pavilion; a teal border of stylised florals and key-fret motifs frames the scene. Low distress preserves a tactile, low-relief surface and a soft hand. This 6' 9" x 4' 0" antique rug has the quiet presence of studio work and traditional craft. Circa 1920 - 1935. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
