Woven in wool and finished in neutral and brown tones, the 2' 7" x 21' 2" scale elongates a repeating medallion and palmette ground, its motifs softened by even abrash and medium wear. The borders retain a clear rosette sequence that frames a field of muted floral vines and formal arabesques. The surface has a tactile, slightly worn nap that reveals the rug's long life and handwork. Circa 1940 - 1960, this antique rug presents a quiet, refined patina and a graceful, historic presence.
