A Kysari woven in silk, this antique rug carries a restrained, medallion-led composition rendered in soft red, cream and neutral tones. The central medallion and surrounding arabesques fade into a quietly luminous field where stylised tree and palmette motifs recur with delicate restraint. The silk pile has mellowed to a satiny sheen, showing medium distress and even abrash that emphasize its age and tactility. The piece measures 5' 6" x 7' 11" and reads as an object of quiet craft and timeworn refinement. Circa 1850 - 1870. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
