A generous Chinese wool rug with a saturated red field punctuated by delicate floral sprays and a narrow sage-green border enlivened by winding blossom vines. The hand-sheared wool retains a soft, lustrous pile and subtle abrash that reads as age and use rather than damage. Colours, deep red, muted purple and neutral greens, remain refined and well balanced. This antique rug reads formally yet with a lived, tactile presence. Circa 1915 - 1935. Measures 11' 0" x 17' 5" and is in-house for close inspection. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
