This Tapestry presents a quietly refined pastoral scene rendered in wool: tall trees frame an arched bridge, a distant château and riders at the water’s edge. The restrained neutral, brown, cream and white palette reads like a watercolour on cloth, the surface showing medium wear and a softened ground that adds depth and tactility. The hand of old dye and time is present but restrained, giving the design a lived, painterly quality. An antique rug with evident history and subtle surface abrash. Circa 1825 - 1840.
