An elongated Sarab runner with a quietly modern sense of proportion, woven in wool to a slender 3' 9" x 11' 8". The field is a banded neutral ground patterned with dense rows of small repeating guls in red and cream; narrow ivory guards and a deep red outer guard frame the composition. The pile shows low, even wear and gentle abrash that softens contrasts, lending a tactile patina to the weave. This antique rug reads as both architecture and cloth, the hand-woven motifs retaining their rhythm and warmth. Circa 1900 - 1920.
