A Mallayer in wool, 6' 0" x 11' 7", whose dense all-over floral lattice reads as an antique textile rendered in muted coral, sage and ivory. Narrow guard borders contain a scrolling vine and small rosettes while the field's repeated palmettes have softened into a whisper of pattern. Time has produced even abrash, low pile and several thin, worn passages that expose the rug's layered surface and tactile hand. Visible patched repairs and mellowed borders contribute to a refined, lived-in patina. This antique rug holds quiet scale and an heirloom presence that rewards close viewing. Circa 1885 - 1900
