A narrow Sarab woven in wool, 3' 0" x 10' 7", this antique rug presents a compressed field of small hooked palmettes arranged in orderly registers, their red and brown accents set against a warm neutral ground. Multiple guard borders, including a cream main guard and muted blue guards, frame the centre with geometric rosettes and linear bands. Low distress and subtle abrash reveal a soft, tactile pile and an even, quietly aged patina. The restrained palette and disciplined repeat speak to traditional design language and careful hand finishing. Circa 1900 - 1930.
