This Khotan presents a quietly refined medallion composition on a softly mottled taupe ground. A large circular centre medallion, scattered floral roundels and angular corner motifs are rendered in faded coral, pale blue, cream and soft ochre, the wool surface softened by time. Multiple guard borders, including a restrained meander and chevron band, frame the field with measured rhythm. Subtle abrash and even, low surface wear lend a tactile, lived-in patina. The generous proportions measure 6' 9" x 13' 5"; an antique rug that reads as both architectural and quietly domestic. Circa 1895 - 1915
