A softly held Tabriz in wool, this antique rug reads as a study in restraint: a faded central medallion set within layered palmette borders, the floral arabesques reduced to gentle outlines. The neutral palette, cream, pale peach and warm tan, has mellowed through medium distress and even abrash, which lends a patinated, tactile surface and a lived-in softness. Subtle repairs and diminished pile animate the cloth-like quality of the piece while preserving the scaled, formal composition. This Tabriz measures 14' 8" x 20' 8" and carries a quiet, heritage presence. Circa 1910 - 1930.
